Surgeries

In October I was still having a lot of complications with my health in this pregnancy. After a lot of testing my mid-wife said that it was critical to the baby that I have my gall bladder removed. It was a pretty intense surgery and it took a long time to really recover. Luckily the baby was completely fine and so far my pregnancy continues to improve. Then Miles decided that he wanted to be just like me and get surgery too! So since his gall bladder was just fine he got "otoplatsty." Ok, really it's a surgery he has wanted his whole life. He basically got his ears pinned back. The surgery took about 2-3 hours and he had to wear a turban for a week afterwords, but other than that it has been healing quite nicely.

The night before his surgery I was feeling kinda sad because this was how I had known him since we were 13! I've always loved his ears and I wasn't ready to commit. haha I've always thought he was incredibly handsome! He assured me that this was something he really really wanted even needed in his life. So far this surgery has obviously given him some confidence that he felt was lacking. I've noticed a little more bounce in his step and he now wears hats! He HATED hats before. He looks amazing!

Top 10 in 2010

So I woke up this morning at 5:30 when Miles left for work and I was thinking about how amazing this year has been for us! We have been so blessed and are excited for the opportunities that lie ahead. Then I was thinking that only close friends and family really know about the surgery that Miles had (which was a pretty big deal) and wondering how I was going to let other know... I thought that I should really be better about doing this blog thing...

So...here I am blogging. I have to be honest, when I go to other people's blogs I don't really read it if they have a lot of words and not very many pictures. So I will soon post some pictures but as for now here are the top 10 things that happened this year...(in no particular order.) 10. Miles' parents and brother Mitchell came to visit us in June

9. My parents returned home from serving a 3 year mission as Mission Presidents in Denver, CO

8. On are 1 year anniversary, which was also Father's Day, we found out we were expecting a baby!!! To which we later found out IT'S A BOY due on Feb 24, 2011

7. We traveled the amazing Oregon Coast

6. We went to most of the U of U home football games

5. Miles hiked Angels Landing in Zion and saw the Grand Canyon for the first time

4. Babies Eli (nephew), McKenna (niece), and Mabel (niece) were born

3. Surgery #1: I got my gall bladder out when I was 19 weeks pregnant

2. Surgery #2: Miles got "otoplasty", which is his ears pinned back, something he's wanted his whole life!

1. Miles got the Boeing Business Internship for next summer in Seattle

It has truly been a blessed year! In 2011 we will have a baby, move to Seattle for the summer, and start grad school...so I'm sure there will be many posts to come!

SUMMER!!!

I LOVE summer in southern Utah. There are so many fun things to do! Some of our favorites are... Go to Zion and Cedar Breaks and enjoy some of the most beautiful hikes, Attend The Shakespeare festival and try to fit in as many plays as we can, Campus is really beautiful so we actually love going to summer school, BBQ in our new backyard (well not so new, but we put it in just before the snow hit, so we haven't been able to enjoy it fully yet) with our friends, Trying out new, healthy, recipes, Play in St. George and attend the temple and try not to die in the heat, Swim, cliff jump, and tan out at Sand Hollow Lake, especially with our friends the Beenfields, Bike the trail that starts near our house and ends at the waterfall up the Canyon, Camping up the canyon, The list is endless! Winter time here is always a little bit difficult because as you may have noticed, all of these things that we love to do are outside. But from April or May all the way down to December I absolutely LOVE southern Utah. I lived most of my single life down here after high school and as much fun as I had, it's 5,000 times better having a husband to do all of these amazing things with. Sometimes people will ask what the best part about marriage is, and to that I respond, having my best friend with me all of the time. Not only do we love so many of the same things but we have an absolute BLAST together doing it all. I married the absolute perfect person for me!

ok....I think I've got it figured out

Well after a long and painful process I think I've figured out how to get this blog working. Now I just have to figure out how to get all of your e-mail addresses so that someone can actually see this blog. I also need to figure out how to view all of your blogs....oh the work! I guess the real reason that I decided to start a blog is because on most good days I have something really important to say. Thoughts go through my head that I really want to share. It's a good thing I married an amazing, deep thinking, and good listening man to hear my thoughts but I thought it was time to share them with more people then just us. I also want to see how everyone else is doing and what you all are up to. SOOOO if I have not received your blog address then please send it to me. Ta Ta for now!
